I recently launched a new program called “The SHARE Journey”. SHARE stands for Support, Hope, Assessment, Referral and Education. The purpose of “The SHARE Journey” is to support mothers with Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), on their journey to wellness. (PMADs include Perinatal Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Postpartum Psychosis. ) I want to walk alongside mothers and give them hope that they will get better. I want to help them set up the support services they need and let them know they are not alone in their suffering.
PMADs are VERY common. 1 in 7 women are suffering from disorders like Postpartum Depression and Anxiety, but unfortunately they are often undiagnosed and not receiving the help they need. For more information on what a PMAD looks like, please check out the Postpartum Progress website. www.postpartumprogress.com They are a non-profit raising the awareness and erasing the stigma behind Postpartum Depression and all PMADs.
If you know someone who might be suffering from Postpartum Depression or any PMAD, please reach out and let them know there is support available. In addition to “The SHARE Journey” support program, I also lead a monthly support group, Beyond the Baby Blues. We meet at my office in Crown Point. There are usually about 4-6 moms that come and we just spend a couple hours talking about our lives. We support each other, encourage each other and share resources and ideas with each other.
If you have any questions about “The SHARE Journey” or the Beyond the Baby Blues support group, please reach out!
